| In an update to the upcoming Alexandria City Council election, Republican candidate Gerry Chandler has withdrawn from the race. The Alexandria Republican City Committee will not be nominating another candidate for this election. The race will now be between former City Council member Frank Fannon, who is running as an Independent, and Sandy Marks, former head of the local Democratic Party. The election will take place on April 21. |
