Chairman’s Update; February Call

We have many things going on this month with the ARCC, not the least of which is the upcoming February 10th special election for the 39th district State Senate seat and the 5th district House of Delegates seat. If you haven’t already, please visit Julie Robben Lineberry’s website for State Senate and Mason Butler’s website for House of Delegates. Its full of information about the candidates and ways to support their campaigns.

Early voting begins on January 31st. If you would like to reach out to local Republicans or hand out sample ballots, please sign up at this link.

In addition to the campaigns, the Alexandria GOP is reconstituting for the 2026-2028 term. Anyone who wishes to be a member in the upcoming term or wishes to run for unit chair should go to this link.

We are going to have an ARCC meeting on Wednesday, February 4th, at 7:30pm at Minnie Howard. It’ll be an opportunity to talk with Julie and Mason and find out additional ways to support their campaigns ahead of the February 10th election.

Finally, the ARCC is participating in the annual George Washington Birthday Parade, which is taking place on February 14th. If you would like to march with fellow Republicans, please sign up here.

March 4: First meeting of reconstituted ARCC for 2026-2028 term.
Official Call for February 4th ARCC Meeting
We are going to meet at Minnie Howard, and the space where we will be meeting is called “The Forum.” There is free parking on the east side of the building and the building entrance faces Braddock Road.

Pursuant to the Bylaws of the Alexandria Republican City Committee and the RPV Party Plan, I, Chris Howell, Chairman of the ARCC, am issuing a call for a General Meeting of the ARCC on February 4th, at Minnie Howard Campus of AHS, 3775 W Braddock Rd, Alexandria, VA 22302. The purpose of this meeting will be to conduct such business as is set forth in the agenda below:

Party Canvass
of the Alexandria City Republican Committee
of the Republican Party of Virginia
February 25, 2026 at 7 p.m.
Minnie Howard Campus, Alexandria City High School
As Chairman of the Alexandria Republican City Committee of the Republican Party of Virginia and pursuant to the Plan of Organization and as recommended and directed by the Unit Committee, I, Chris Howell, do hereby issue this Call for a Party Canvass to be held at Minnie Howard Campus, Alexandria City High School, 3775 W Braddock Rd, Alexandria VA 22302, or its alternate site, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on February 25, 2026, for the following purposes:
Electing a Unit Chair;
Electing 150 Members of the Unit Committee At Large;
Electing up to 99 delegates and an equal number of alternate delegates to the 8th District Convention, to be held on April 16, 2026 at Minnie Howard Campus, Alexandria City High School, beginning at 7 pm. for the purpose of electing a District Chair and for the transaction of such other business as may properly come before the convention.

Qualifications for Participation
All citizens of the United States who are legal and qualified voters of the City of Alexandria under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, regardless of race, religion, national origin or sex, who are in accord with the principles of the Republican Party, and who, if requested, express in open meeting either orally or in writing as may be required their intent to support all of its nominees for public office in the ensuing election may participate as members of the Republican Party of Virginia in its mass meetings, party canvasses, conventions, or primaries encompassing their respective election districts.

Candidate Filing Requirements
Candidates for Unit Chair, Unit Committee Member, and/or Delegate must declare their candidacy in writing using the attached official pre-filing form, accompanied by a non-refundable filing fee of $250, $100, and $25, respectively, which must be received no later than February 22, 2026 at 7 pm.
Filing may be made online at alexgop.org or by mail at PO Box 245, Alexandria VA 22313.

Cancellation Provisions
If the number of persons filing as candidates for election does not exceed the number to be elected for a particular office, those persons shall be declared elected. If the number of persons filing as candidates for election for all offices does not exceed the number to be elected, the Canvass will be cancelled.
