Marian Van Landingham

WHEREAS, the Honorable Marian Van Landingham, delegate in the House of Delegates of Virginia from the Forty-fifth House District, has announced her plans to retire at the expiration of the current term; and

WHEREAS, Delegate Van Landingham has announced that she will be undergoing treatment for cancer; and

WHEREAS, Delegate Van Landingham has served in the House since 1982, where she has been a leader in her caucus on many issues, in particular education, transportation, and services for vulnerable populations; and

WHEREAS, Delegate Van Landingham, prior to her election to the House, organized and served as executive director of the Alexandria Volunteer Bureau; and

WHEREAS, Delegate Van Landingham worked with the Alexandria Bicentennial Commission to establish the Torpedo Factory Art Center, where she then served as director and continues to maintain her art studio; and

WHEREAS, Delegate Van Landingham has consistently made public service a priority in her life;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Alexandria Republican City Committee commends the Honorable Marian Van Landingham for her long service to Alexandria and wishes her well as she undergoes treatment for cancer.
