Chris Marston, chair of the Alexandria Republican City Committee, said, "Republicans in Alexandria, Arlington, and Fairfax are fired up. We have a great slate of local candidates. I know they look forward to joining with the winners of next Tuesday's primary on a strong Republican team for this November's election." Biographical Information Bill Cleveland, former Alexandria Vice Mayor, served on the Alexandria City Council for 15 years. He retired from the U.S. Capitol Police last fall after 33 years. A community leader and an experienced law enforcement official, Cleveland has broad support in the community. Chris Gregerson, a retired Naval officer and Vietnam veteran, works as a consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton. A board member of Communities in Schools, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving education through connecting communities and schools, Gregerson tutors students at the George Washington Middle School. Nomination Process
Chris Marston, chair of the Alexandria Republican City Committee, certified Bill Cleveland as the Republican nominee for Sheriff in the City of Alexandria on April 20, 2005. The filing deadline for nomination by primary expired at 5 p.m. on April 15 and Cleveland was the only candidate to file.
Chris Marston, chair of the 45th Legislative District Committee, certified Chris Gregerson as the Republican nominee for Delegate on June 6, 2005. Gregerson was nominated by the 45th Legislative District Committee at a meeting on June 5. Because no candidates filed to run in the Republican primary, the 45th Legislative District Committee had the authority to make the nomination itself under the Republican Party Plan, as authorized by the Code of Virginia.
The 45th Legislative District includes parts of the City of Alexandria (East end), Arlington County (Fairlington, Shirlington), and Fairfax County (Mt. Vernon, Lee Districts). The Committee members are Chris Marston, chairman, representing Alexandria, Neil Miller representing Arlington, and Rick Johnston representing Fairfax.
Matt Robbins, chair of the 46th Legislative District Committee, certified Matt Mueda as the Republican nominee for Delegate on June 6, 2005. Mueda was nominated by the 46th Legislative District Committee at a meeting on June 6. Because no candidate filed to run in the Republican primary, the 46th Legislative District Committee had the authority to make the nomination itself under the Republican Party Plan, as authorized by the Code of Virginia.
The 46th Legislative District includes parts of the City of Alexandria (West end) and Fairfax County (Skyline). The Committee members are Matt Robbins, chairman, representing Alexandria, and Shari Simmans, representing Fairfax County.
