2010 reorganization

NOTE: This GOP canvass will select the City GOP Chair and Committee members for 2010-12, and also the Alexandria delegates to the 8th District Convention (May 22). All Republican voters in the City are welcome to participate. For more information, see our Reorganization 2010 center.

OFFICIAL CALL

Alexandria Republican canvass

As Chairman of the Alexandria Republican City Committee of the Republican Party of Virginia, pursuant to the Plan of Organization and as recommended and directed by the Committee, I, Chris Marston, do hereby issue this call for a Party Canvass to be held at the Minnie Howard Campus of TC Williams High School, 3801 W Braddock Rd, Alexandria, from 7 p.m. (EST) to 9 p.m. (EST) on March 4, 2010, for the following purposes:

• Electing a Unit Chairman.
• Electing members of the Unit Committee as follows: precinct members--Ladrey Senior Building, 2; City Hall, 3; Lyles Crouch School, 3; Durant Center, 3; Lee Center, 3; Cora Kelly, 2; Mt. Vernon, 3; George Washington School, 2; Fire Department Headquarters, 3; Maury School, 3; George Mason School, 3; Agudas Achim, 2; Blessed Sacrament, 3; Douglas MacArthur, 4; Chinquapin Park, 2; Temple Beth El, 4; NOVA Arts, 3; James K Polk, 3; St. James Church, 2; Patrick Henry School, 2; Beatley Library, 2; Tucker School, 2; John Adams School, 2; William Ramsay, 2; South Port Apartments, 2; Cameron Station, 4; at-large members--30.
• Electing up to 320 Delegates and an equal number of Alternates to the 2010 Eighth District Republican Convention, to be held on May 22, 2010 at TC Williams High School, 3330 King St, Alexandria, beginning at 10 a.m. (EDT) for the purpose of electing a District Chairman of the Republican Party. Each unit is entitled to one (1) Delegate Vote per 500 Republican votes in the last gubernatorial and presidential elections combined, so that Alexandria is entitled to 64 Delegate Votes.

Qualifications for Participation

All legal and qualified voters of Alexandria under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, regardless of race, religion, national origin or sex, who are in accord with the principles of the Republican Party and who, if requested, express in open meeting either orally or in writing as may be required, their intent to support all of its nominees for public office in the ensuing election, may participate as members of the Republican Party of Virginia in its mass meetings, party canvasses, conventions or primaries encompassing their respective election districts.

Filing Requirements

Candidates for election at said canvass shall file a written statement by first class mail or internet submission, to ARCC, PO Box 245, Alexandria VA 22313 or www.AlexGOP.org, postmarked or submitted no later than February 25, 2010. If not more than the number of persons to be elected shall file for each office, then such properly filed persons shall be declared elected as the case may be, and no canvass will be held for such purpose. Candidates for chairman shall include a filing fee of $130; candidates for member, $65; candidates for delegate, $35.

Registration Fee

There will be no registration fee to participate in this canvass.
