Voters across Virginia elected all members of the House of Delegates and State Senate in November. In the 45th Delegate District, our GOP nominee was Mark Allen, taking on incumbent Democrat David Englin. Allen ran a spirited campaign, reaching voters the City and elsewhere in the district.

The 45th District includes most of eastern and central Alexandria (see list of precincts), along with parts of Arlington (Shirlington-Fairlington) and southeast Fairfax County.For more information, see the Official Call for the 30th Senate and 45th House District seats.

City Republicans proudly supported our nominee, former Vice Mayor Bill Cleveland, in this special electoin A longtime community leader and member of Alexandria City Council for five terms (1988-2003), Cleveland drew support from throughout the city, including many Democrats and independents. Cleveland came close to victory, winning 48% of the vote and carrying 11 of the ctiy's 26 precincts.

Cleveland was nominated at a party "canvass" election on May 29 (see Official Call), in which nearly 500 city Republicans participated.
