Get involved in '08!Alexandria voters will cast votes for President, U.S. Senate and Congress in 2008. The general election will be Tuesday, November 4. Absentee voting begins on September 22. Earlier this year, City Republicans selected party officers for the City Committee (in Feb.), and participated in the 8th District and State Republican Conventions (in May). Voters in District "B" also elected a new School Board member in August (a non-partisan election). For President of the U.S.

For City School BoardA special election will be held Tue., Aug. 12, to elect a new School Board member from Distirct "B" (precincts #201-210, see list). The new member will fill out the term of Claire Eberwein, who resigned in May 2008 as her family moved out of the area. Four candidates filed petitions and will be on the ballot:
School Board elections are non-partisan. We encourage voters in District B to learn about the candidates and vote on Aug. 12. Polls are open from 6 am to 7 pm. For Republican Party officesCity: In February, Alexandria Republicans elected members of the City Committee for 2008-10, and delegates to the District and State GOP Conventions (to be held in May). A canvass election for City Chairman was held on Feb. 23 (see more on party elections and canvass). District: The 8th District GOP Convention on Sat., May 17, will elect district party offices and delegates to the Republican National Convention. More than 120 Alexandria Republicans signed up for the District Convention by the city filing deadline in February. Read more about the 8th District Convention. State: The Virginia State GOP Convention will be held Fri.-Sat., May 30-31, in Richmond. That convention will elect state party offices, more delegates to the National Convention, and select our nominee for U.S. Senate. More than 100 Alexandria Republicans signed up for the State Convention by the city filing deadline in February. Read more about the State Convention. Volunteers welcome! While the Alexandria filing deadline has passed, there are still open positions on the City Committee, and many opportunities to help build the party and assist our candidates in 2008.
